The holiday shopping season is here. And Amazon, the online retailer, is ready to play a major role. As evidence of this, the retail giant has announced that it will add Sunday deliveries in three major cities — New York, Los Angeles and London — for certain customers, according to the tech Web site TechCrunch.
Amazon has become one of the go-to shopping sites for consumers during the holiday season. So it’s little surprise that Amazon is preparing to test Sunday deliveries. The company is working with the United States Postal Service to make it happen.
Not all qualify
This perk, though, is not open to everyone. As TechCrunch reports, you must be a member of Amazon’s Prime service to make use of Sunday delivery. Amazon Prime is a subscription service — sort of like a preferred customer club – that will cost you $79 a year.
If you don’t live in New York, Los Angeles or London, don’t fret. This is merely a pilot program for Amazon. The business has plans to expand the Sunday-deliver program to other markets — including cities such as Dallas, Houston and New Orleans — in 2014.
